I've always enjoyed fiddling around with new technology, diving deep into what they can do and in some cases stress testing them. I believe being inquisitive with technology & its ecosystem always helps in an IT profession for sure.
As an ERP Consultant, I believe that to learn and understand what an ERP has to offer you need to first look at it, at a conceptual level, once you have that part of it sorted the details are much easier to grasp. Most importantly, you need to have that knack to make things happen, try something new, a good ERP System already has many best-in-class processes already built into it with a million minds already having worked on it, however its up to the intellectual ability of the consultant to adopt these or perhaps even alter them a bit to best suit the clients requirements keeping in mind that every client is unique.
Most importantly, you got to enjoy what you do, to be a top notch ERP Consultant you need to couple your soft skills with your technical skills, whilst keeping abreast of the new developments in your industry, all this put together is what makes a consultant tick !!
